Home Design Trends for 2023

At Ledgewood, we’re constantly assessing home design trends across the country to meet the needs and preferences of our homeowners here in Iowa. It’s important to us that we bring cutting edge design concepts, as well as high quality construction to our homes! As 2023 unfolds, here’s what we’re seeing as the top five design trends in home construction:

  1. Sustainable and eco-friendly design: With the increasing awareness of the impact of human activities on the environment, many homeowners are looking for ways to make their homes more sustainable and eco-friendly. This can include incorporating features such as solar panels for generating electricity, green roofs for insulation and biodiversity, and energy-efficient appliances to reduce energy consumption.

  2. Open floor plans and multi-functional spaces: The open floor plan concept has been gaining popularity in recent years, as it allows for more flexibility and versatility in the use of space. This trend involves removing walls and barriers to create a more open and connected living environment, like many of our floor plans currently offer. Multi-functional spaces, like a home office that can also be used as a guest room, are also becoming more common.

  3. Textured and natural materials: Homeowners are increasingly looking to incorporate natural elements and textures into their homes, such as wood, stone, and plants. These materials can add warmth, character and organic elements to the home.

  4. Smart home technology: Smart home technology is becoming increasingly popular among homeowners. This can include features such as voice-controlled lighting and temperature, security systems that can be controlled remotely, and appliances that can be controlled through a smartphone. These technologies can enhance convenience and control for homeowners, making their homes more comfortable and efficient to live in.

  5. Minimalistic and monochromatic color schemes: Minimalism has been a growing trend in home design for several years, and it continues to be popular. This trend involves using a limited color palette and simple, clean lines to create a calm and uncluttered look in the home. Monochromatic color schemes, in which all colors used in a room are variations of the same color, can also be used to create a cohesive and harmonious look.
